In the scripture for today we learn that as followers of Christ we are no longer "in the dark."  We are a new creation in Christ.  As a new creation we are supposed to live out our relationships differently than the world does.  Christians should be a counter - culture to the culture where we live.  If the fruit of the Spirit is evident in us then the world indeed will see us differently, because we will relate to them differently.  Paul gives us a great example of this change.  While this fruit is a gift from God, given only to those who abide in Him, we also have to make an effort to live fruitfully.
